Analysts Expect Cell Phone Shopping to Grow A New York Times article says that analysts think Internet cell phone shopping is starting to become more common. The article says Amazon and eBay first tried to interest consumers in this years ago but consumers weren't ready to mobile shop. However, the article says things like ring tones and mobile games have made consumers ready for cellular shopping. With people already spending billions on ring tones, wallpaper and games for their phones, analysts and retailing executives say they believe it will not be much of a leap to get them to use their phones to buy shoes, books and laptops. The article says Overstock is one retailer that is taking mobile shopping seriously. CEO has even invested some of his own money in a technology to boost mobile shopping. One of the challengers to eBay, Overstock.com, which sells travel services and products for fixed prices and at auction, also recently ventured deeper into the wireless realm. In November it started mobile O, where cellphone users could use their phones to browse and buy anything on Overstock's Web site.2007 is not far away. As web surfing with mobile devices become more common it makes sense that online shopping should follow close behind.
